Privacy policy

Depending on how you use ABC Unite, we may collect:

• Account and contact information: name, email address, phone number, login details, communication preferences, and account role.
• Participant information: a participant's name, date of birth, interests, goals, support needs, availability, program participation, assessments, progress notes, and information an authorized caregiver chooses to provide.
• Service records: consultations, bookings, attendance, signed agreements, messages, coach communications, evaluations, and support inquiries.
• Payment information: transaction status, purchased services, billing identifiers, and limited payment details supplied by our payment processor. ABC Unite does not receive full card numbers.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, authentication events, security logs, and information needed to keep the site reliable.

We use personal information to provide and administer programs; create and secure accounts; arrange consultations, sessions, and coach assignments; communicate with families and coaches; process payments; document participation and progress; respond to inquiries; prevent misuse; meet legal, insurance, accounting, and safeguarding obligations; and improve our services.

We use information only for the purposes described here, for compatible purposes a reasonable person would expect, or with additional consent where required.

ABC Unite services may involve children and other participants who cannot independently consent. The authorized caregiver or legal representative who creates or manages a profile confirms that they have authority to provide the participant's information and make decisions concerning the services.

Participants should not create a caregiver account or submit personal information without appropriate authorization. We aim to collect only information reasonably needed to provide safe, individualized support.

Our site uses strictly necessary cookies to sign users in, maintain secure sessions, protect account areas, and remember the active participant profile. These cookies are required for the service to work and cannot be switched off through a cookie preference panel.

We also use browser local storage to remember accessibility preferences, such as the selected reading font. This information stays on the device unless the user clears browser data. We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell information for targeted advertising. If we introduce optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and request consent where required.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser, but doing so may prevent login and other account features from working.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose it:

• to authorized ABC Unite staff and coaches who need it to deliver or administer services;
• to service providers supporting hosting, database and authentication, payments, email delivery, document storage, and technical operations, including Supabase, Stripe, and Resend;
• to an authorized caregiver or representative connected to a participant;
• when required by law, court order, child-protection or safeguarding duties, or to address a credible threat to safety; or
• as part of a business reorganization, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Some service providers may process information outside Ontario or Canada. Information in another jurisdiction may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or regulators under that jurisdiction's laws.

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above and to meet legal, tax, insurance, dispute-resolution, and safeguarding requirements. Retention periods vary by record type. We then delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of information where reasonably practicable.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent to uses based on consent, request account deletion, or ask how information has been used or disclosed. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide services.

You may unsubscribe from promotional email using the link in the message or by contacting us. We may still send necessary account, booking, safety, or transaction messages.

We may need to verify your identity or authority before completing a request. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain why where required.

We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email.

If a concern remains unresolved, you may have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial regulator.
